Whew its hot!!!

Hey everyone
Boy was it hot today and of all day the air conditioning went out today. It was almost 100 in the house today. It is so much worse when you have to breast feed cause the body heat make it so much worse. Cayden and I got through it today though no matter how hot it got we still did it.
Here are some more recent photos for everyone.

Normal Baby Stuff!!!

That's what Dr. Mills said today about Cayden's visits from now on. Now we can get on with the normal baby stuff. He had his 2 month shots A WHOLE 4 OF THEM!!!! I thought they would never end but they did. Yes he is a little cranky and running a slight fever but he has tolerated them well so far. That is about all I have for you guys so far. Talk to ya soon.

Here are some Pictures

Well I finally figured out how to post pictures. All it took was a little reading. I don't have any recent ones but I will put a few of them on anyway.

Hooray!!!!

Well as of Saturday Cayden has not had a bottle except to take his vitamins in the morning. We finally got the hang of it. At some points in this journey I never thought we would be this far. It took consistancy and patience but it definately paid off.
Cayden hasn't had gas or had any problems. He eats better now that he is nursing. I don't have to get up and heat up a bottle feed him and then rinse the bottle and make another bottle for the next feeding. So its a plus for us both and the most awesome thing is I don't have to pump anymore!!!! Thank God for that. Mothers that were able to breast feed from the start and don't have to go back to a job have no idea how lucky they are. Once you experience the pump you don't ever want to do it again. I know I don't.
Well I'm gonna head to bed now just thought I would get this in while I could since Cayden is awake all day I only get time to update in the early mornings. So I'll update every one soon I hope.

Happy Mom,
Vanessa

Well another early morning!!!

Cayden didn't want to go to bed last night. He had faught sleep all day yesterday so I thought that I would get to sleep in until I had to take his dad to work. Of course he has a mind of his own. I finally got him to sleep about 10pm last night and that was with him sleeping next to me. I told him we weren't gonna make it a habit. Just 3.5 hours later he said mom I want to eat. Little burger ate was changed and went right back to sleep. He is still sleeping now and I'm waiting a little bit longer before I pump.
To catch up on a few things. Our appointment went well with Nancy on Friday. He didn't eat to much because he ate only an hour before. Oh yeah and Cayden got to see grammy (great grandma Janice) on Tuesday and we took lots of pictures he was happy through most of them. Tomorrow we go and see Nancy again to see how Cayden is tolerating nursing she is such a big help I don't know what I would do without her. Anyway I have to go and pump yet again and then get some sleep if he will let me. Hope everyone is doing well and I will talk to you soon.

Hello again !!!

Not going to be a long entry cause it's late but it will be an entry.
Well Cayden's ride up to Portland was a lot better than the ride home. No vomitting or long stretches of him screaming it was a very pleasant trip.
We made it to my Uncle's house at around 8pm and Cayden was ready to get out of is car seat so uncle Luke held him. Uncle Luke and aunt Selina were the first people to see Cayden before mom and dad were able to be with him.
We woke up and headed for Portland for Cayden's first follow up appointment. Everything went very well he gained 3oz since Tuesday. They wanted him to have a couple x-rays (he did so well you would think hes done them before hahaha cause he has) I got a call this morning from the nurse practitioner and the x-rays looked good and we have to make an appointment for next month. Then he has an appointment for the pediactrics unit in august. I have a feeling we are going to have to get used to this back and forth for quite awhile.
Aunt Selina took a few picture of Cayden while mom rested up for the long trip home. I'm hoping to get all the pictures posted so everyone can see how far he has come.
Cayden had a bath today and didnt like it at all he cried through the whole bath. He definately tuckered himself out he ate and went to sleep immediately following his bath. So I better get going to bed or I will be getting back up as soon as I hit the pillow. Talk to everyone soon.
Everything is going well and we have God to thank for that.

Really Quick Note!!!

Hello everyone it's me again just letting you know how Cayden's doctors visit went. He was 10 lbs 12 oz which is 2 oz more than yesterday. The doctor said it was fine that I stopped fortifying my breastmilk with formula. If he has any weight issues then we will have to find a new formula to try and see how he does on that. Let's just pray he doesn't have to go back on the formula. We have his first post-op visit on Thursday and we are leaving tomorrow after Patrick gets off work, because the appointment is at 9 am on Thursday. We are staying at Uncle Luke and Aunt Selina's.

Well I'm really tired today since Cayden only let me cat nap for 20 minutes. Hope every one has a wonderful 2 days and I will update on Thursday or Friday night.

Another Good Day!!!

Today Cayden was able to spend quite a bit of time with his great grandpa and grandma. He spent most of the day cooing and ga-gaing at them. I am very fortunate to have a son that is so alert and easily entertained. He screamed and cried until I put him in his swing which he fell asleep in. That is a good thing because I had a lot of things to do today like laundry, dishes and cleaing my room and around the house. Thank the good lord for this wonderful day of no gas and no vomitting.
Oh yeah Cayden and myself went to see Nancy today and he has gained some weight he now weighs 10 lbs 10 oz. We have his doctors appointment with Dr. Mills tomorrow and then on Wednesday we are off to Portland for his appointment with Dr. Krishnaswami for his post op visit. Then Friday yet another day with Nancy. I think that is all until the next Monday.
Yet another late night filling you guys in so I'm gonna get going and try to sleep before Cayden has to eat talk to you soon.

First Bath At Home!!!

Well today was another good day. Cayden has been doing well with his nursing. Yet another day of not vomitting or gaging on his feedings. Dad and I went to go and get him some outfits for the warm weather since we only have winter outfits. We have to thank Aunt Michelle for the money to be able to buy the outfits. We bought 4 short and shirt outfits, 1 cute onsie and a 2T tank and shorts outfit.
We pretty much stayed home the rest of the day. Dad was able to get in some more practice with the diaper changes. Well on the way to doing all of the diaper changes (hahaha yeah right). Wouldn't that be ideal for us mothers we can only dream about that one.
Cayden had his first bath at home today he really seems to enjoy playing in the water, not so much mommy cleaning him up or the getting out into the cold. He doesn't make to much of a fus though and he likes being bundled up in his clothes afterwards. He got really tired and took a little nap before he was hungery again.
Sitting here I can't help but wonder how all of our friends are doing from the NICU. There Cayden's first neighbor Silas who we've seen twice since we have been discharged. Nanette who also had CDH and went home a week or so before we did. Cayden's other neighbors Jazmine, Jonathan, the 2 others that didn't stay long enough for me to catch their names and little Jada who left the day before we did. Who knows if we will ever see any of them or their families ever again. I just know that I am thankful for everyone of the families of the babies that I came in contact with. They made it that much easier for me with being away from my family. Thanks too all of you.
Well it's getting late and we have an early morning ahead of us I will catch up with you tomorrow.

We Are Finally Home

Hey everyone sorry it's been so long since I've updated Cayden's blog. Let me tell you he keeps his momma busy. As most of you moms know already!!

Friday May 26th:
Cayden was discharged from the hospital at 6:45pm on Friday May 26th. Aunt Georjean and dad picked us up. From there we went to check mom out of the Ronald McDonald house. Then we drove to Tigard and stayed the night in the motel 6. Cayden's first night was a really good night. No vomitting, eating well and sleeping when and however long he wants to (he thanked mom for that). He woke up 2 times and was very hungery when he woke up.

Saturday May 27th:
We had the long drive home. He did well for the first 2 hours then Cayden was tired of being in his car seat and was hungery. We stopped to feed him and change his pants. After that it was all a blur of crying, vomitting and small bits of sleep. We finally got home about 6pm on Saturday night. He slept most of the way through the night with one break in sleep to fill his belly and burp a few times.

Sunday May 28th (Uncle Bubba's Birthday)
Had a really good day eating, going potty and sleeping most of it away. What else do they do anyway? During the early part of the evening he had a hard time with gas in his little tummy. Other than that he had a great night too and he slept all the way through the night. I wish I could say the same for mommy I woke every 2 hours and watched to make sure he was breathing and was able to go back to sleep. I finally decided to wake him up at 9:30 am and feed and change him.

Monday May 29th:
Today we went and met uncle Bubba and visited grandma and grandpa other than that it was an uneventful day of eating, going potty and sleeping. Cayden only woke up 2 times.

Tuesday May 30th
Cayden had his first doctors appointment today. He weighed 10 lbs. 6 oz. and was healthy. Dr. Mills made an appointment for Cayden and myself to see the lactation consultant for tomorrow. Another good night for us both we both got a really good night sleep.

Wednesday May 31st:
Cayden and myself met with Nancy the lactation consultant. It was a very successful appointment. Cayden ate 95 cc nursing which is more than he takes from a bottle. Mom and grandma were really happy to see that. Nancy and myself came up with a plan to bottle feed every other feeding and nurse the others. See how he does and go back and see her next week before his doctors appointment on tuesday.

Thursday June 1st:
How come things are so easy when you have help? When you don't it automatically seems like it is almost impossible. That is how the whole nursing is at this point in time. Hopefully it will get better as we practice.

Friday June 2nd:
Today was our day to relax grandma took us out to lunch but we had no appointments and we had the house all to ourself. We took a long nap and then had to go and pick up daddy. We spent most of the night hanging out with uncle Neal and cousins Marshall and Alexis.

Saturday June 3rd:
Today baby Cayden (hunny bunches) let mom and dad sleep in until 10 am. We went to uncle Bubba's last soccer game and visited cousins Dustin, Kristen and Mikiah. Daddy changed his first dirty diaper and he didn't get peed on. Well I've got to get going, but I should be able to keep up on this now that I'm caught up. Feel free to leave comments if you want. Talk to everyone soon. If you don't think I have your number leave it on a comment or you can email me at mathsis2002@yahoo.com
